In the Broadway production of "It's a Bird
It's a Plane It's Superman©",
Lois Lane was beautifully played by renowned actress Patricia Marand. She had previously starred
opposite Jack Cassidy (Max Mencken) in the Broadway production
Wish You Were Here. Every star has an understudy. And in
1966, a TV special entitled Standbys and Understudies '66
included Marilyne Mason, who played "Rosalie, the High School Girl" "It's a Bird It's a Plane It's Superman©" while also serving as Ms. Marand's understudy.
Matthew Rizzuto, a member of Bob's Facebook page, found a copy of Standbys and Understudies '66 on YouTube. We've interlaced
parts of Ms. Marand's and Ms. Mason's performances so that you can see them
both. Just one note: Patricia Marand never flew on the Broadway stage!
