Miss Outdoors America
There's lots to be seen on the back of this photo. Most important is a typed note headed
"MISS OUTDOORS AMERICA.
Patricia Marand, 20, 5 feet 6, 120 pound brunette singing star in South Pacific and Wish You Were Here, who will reign as Miss Outdoors America and compete in sports events during the Chicago Sports, Outdoor, Travel and Trailer show which will open a 10 day run Friday night in the International Amphitheatre.
The photo has multiple date stamps in different color inks:
1954 FEB 13
Chicago Sun Times FEB 13 1954
FEB 15 1954
1960 FEB 30
MAR 1960
Finally, there are a number of handwritten quotes:
PAT MARAND SINGER
CAMELLIA HOUSE
1 col cut
5 3/8 inches deep
Cafe Column
Sun Mag
March 6
M-326 Patricia
To be sure, it's an interesting set of markings. Maybe the photo ran twice, once in 1954 and again in 1960. That's not typical for pageant winners, but Patricia Marand was so beautiful, perhaps she won the title twice!
