The Overture Reimagined

The opening overture for
"It's a Bird It's a Plane It's Superman ©"
was thrilling.

The blaring jazz style grabbed you by the neck and made you sit up straight in your seat (kudos to the courage and originality of orchestrator Eddie Sauter). Then, a moment later, the magic of theatre arrested you—Superman was speaking. Yes, during the overture, Superman's announced, "Bullets can't hurt me!" Lois Lane joined him a moment later, and four sentences summed up their entire relationship, at least as of 1966. Point of fact, "It's a Bird It's a Plane It's Superman©" was the first time Superman ever told Lois that he loves her! But I'm jumping ahead.

We hope you enjoy this introduction to the lead cast, set to the music of the Overture and the villainous "You've Got What I Need," sung by Jack Cassidy and Michael O'Sullivan.
