All of America was saddened to learn of the death of veteran actor Tom Bosley on October 19, 2010. Most of us knew Mr. Bosley as the much beloved Howard Cunningham on the long-running hit series Happy Days. Readers of
Superman on Broadway know that Bob Holiday and Tom Bosley were friends long before Happy Days hit the airwaves.

Tom Bosley's big break as an actor came when he was cast as New York City mayor Fiorello La Guardia in the hit Broadway show Fiorello! In fact, Mr. Bosley won a
1960 Tony Award (Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical) in this role. And who sang the opening song in that hit show?
None other than Bob Holiday, who played Neil, making his Broadway debut.

Bob was deeply touched and saddened to hear of Tom Bosley's passing. "He was a good, good guy, a super guy. I liked him very much. We'd play cards backstage between the matinee and evening shows. Tom came to see me in Superman. He was right there for me and made me feel great."

From Superman on Broadway by Bob Holiday and Chuck Harter:
Tom was a great guy. We would play cribbage backstage. The show ran for two years. It was fun. It was consistent. It was learning, experience. It was tremendous confidence. The play won the Pulitzer Prize. I never missed a single show in the 2 year run.
